Yesterday evening we delivered Release 5.6 of the Searchmetrics Suite with a range of new enhancements. These include US Datas in the Performance modul, multiple categories for keywords and Norway and Turkey as new countries for keyword monitoring.
Together with a whole raft of tweaks and enhancements we have also incorporated a new workflow for the setup und categorization of keywords and improved the Backlink Analysis filter and export functions.
US data in the Performance module
Beginning immediately, the Performance module’s extensive functions are available to Searchmetrics clients for use with US keywords to perform fast, in-depth analysis of a desired domain using the extensive Searchmetrics database.
Users are provided information about the domain ranking and keyword value (search volumes, estimated traffic for that position, traffic potential, CpC and competition) that can be used to quickly and accurately identify their domains’ strengths and weaknesses. In addition, competitors’ strengths can be assessed and used to improve a client’s own domain.

We query around 8 million keywords each month and record data from the top 100 rankings, universal search results and pop-up ads for each keyword.
Multiple categories for keywords
After much anticipation, we are pleased to announce the implementation of multiple keyword categories in this release. This greatly enhances the possibilities for performing individual analyses using different keyword sets.

An individual keyword (e.g. vacation) can now be part of a thematic category (fishing), an overview category (leisure) and also a value category (money keyword, traffic keyword etc.).
Using these categories in Market Analysis, for example, it is possible to evaluate a domain’s competitive arena in a more targeted and detailed manner. Competitors in the area of ‘money keywords’ may be differently positioned to those in the ‘vacation’ category, requiring a different strategic approach. Using these analytical keyword groupings, ever greater insights can be achieved into specific markets and business sectors.
In addition, this new category system will allow individual thematic and business areas to be more easily displayed, exported and communicated.
Search engine and country enhancements
Version 5.6 of the Suite allows the monitoring of 51 different search engine and country combinations. Norway and Turkey are the newest additions.
New workflow for keyword setup
In Release 5.6, keywords can be categorized at setup. To make this possible we have completely overhauled the settings process.

Firstly – if desired – select a category. Multiple selections are possible. New categories can also be created. The selected categories for the keyword set will be transferred to the right-hand side of page. We recommend that you categorize keywords before entering them so that they can be easily entered into the appropriate categories.

In the second step you will add your keywords. Copy your list into the left-hand column. Click on Add Keywords to move them to the right-hand column.

In this step, choose which search engines will be monitored for the selected keywords. Click on the desired search engines to select and display them on the right-hand side of the page.

Finally, associate this set with the domains that you wish to monitor. You can also choose multiple items in this step, adding multiple domains to the right-hand side of the page.
Take a look at the right-hand side of the page to check over your selected categories, keywords, search engines and domains once more. Finalize the process by clicking on the Add Keywords button.
New keyword categorization workflow
We have completely overhauled the Categorize Keywords section and and included some extra features.
The Search function makes it easy to find keywords. You can use the Search function to search according to individual keywords, word fragments or similar word forms. It is also possible to add direct entries to categories.
To copy or move keywords, first activate the appropriate checkbox next to the desired keyword. Marked keywords will continue to be marked after a search is canceled. This makes it easy to identify and create keyword sets.

You can easily rename or delete categories. Keywords from deleted categories, if they are not associated with any other categories, will automatically be added to the Not Assigned category. Once you have selected keywords, you have the possibility to create a new category.
The Filter function and enhancements in Backlink Analysis
Backlink Analysis, introduced in our previous software release, allows the analysis of selected domains using our extensive databases. To better structure the large number of backlinks, we have considerably improved the analysis capabilities with Release 5.6.
Filtering is now possible according to PageRank, link relation (follow and nofollow links), link type (image link, text link) and linktext.
In addition, we have improved information regarding the http status of individual links. This makes it easy to find faulty links quickly.
The third development is in the area of the Export function This already works on a page-by-page basis and complete export within the framework of set allocations will be possible in the next release.
We hope you enjoy these improvements and look forward to your feedback.
