SEO Predictions Week Pt. 5

GUESTS & RESOURCES

Episode Overview:

Join host Ben as 2021 SEO Predictions Week concludes with the final conversation with Tyson Stockton, VP of Client Services at Searchmetrics, and Jordan Koene, SEO Strategist and Advisor to Searchmetrics.

Last year brought more antitrust battles to Google’s door as the Department of Justice along with 11 states sued the company. While these proceedings continue, 2021 might bring a shift in the focus on Google as the antagonist. With the resignation of Attorney General William Barr last December and subsequent transfer of power in the White House, political motivation behind these suits should lessen.

Regardless of the legal outcomes, Google and others will have to change their practices regarding transparency into what they do and how they do it. This may influence their search integrations or the blend between paid and organic search but likely won’t result in massive blows to their business. Consumers are also becoming more aware of the data being collected about them, which may bring additional scrutiny and potential legal actions.
