Episode Overview:
Join host Ben as he kicks off his three-part chat with Jordan Koene, SEO Strategist and Advisor to Searchmetrics. On the first day, they discuss the new SERP update that Google released.
The two start the discussion about the obscurity of the new update. Jordan dives into the update and explains that there is an expanded view on the result information set. This shows more information on their menu and this new feature is in beta. If you view your website in the URL and view the three dots, more information pops up.
Ben uses his MarTech site as an example of the new feature. He walks through the new features of the SERP and calls out things that show the site is not an ad or sponsored content. Both Jordan and Ben believe this update wasn’t to benefit SEOs, the search engine world, or the SEO community but to only benefit Google.
Google released this update because it changes the landscape of authority. Google is telling people what is an authoritative website and not. The “About this Result” feature establishes credibility and when a site was indexed. It is giving information about who is giving the information.
